Two suspected heroin dealers and one supplier have been indicted in the Lexington U.S. District Court.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, Lamar “Juice” Thornton, Jerrod Doolin and Jeffrey James Ruggerio were indicted in Lexington for conspiring together, and with others, to knowingly and intentionally distribute a mixture which contained amounts of heroin and carfentanyl, according to the indictment.

The three were suspected to have sold the mixture in July 2016 and January of this year in various places including Garrard, Jessamine and Fayette Counties. 

Thornton, 24, was being charged with violations of conspiracy to distribute heroin when he was moved from his home state of Michigan to Kentucky.

Doolin, 34, of Nicholasville, was previously charged with trafficking in a controlled substance first-degree in state court.

Ruggerio, 27, was arrested by the Nicholasville Police Department and was previously being held at the Fayette County Detention Center as a federal prisoner on a complaint.

As of Tuesday, Doolin and Thornton were being held at the Grayson County Detention Center as federal prisoners.

In District Court on Monday, a trial date was set for Thornton, Ruggerio and Doolin for April 24, 2017, at 9 a.m. in Lexington. All three pleaded not guilty to their charges, according to the order.
