Rosemary Waters, 77, died Monday, September 11, 2023, after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late William C. Waters and Susan Miles Waters. She was a member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church. She is survived by cousins, Neal Cassity, Sammie (Betty) Cassity, Lester Cassity, Mary Susan Houk, Mark (Gina) Cassity, Amy Cassity, Sam Cassity, Kim (Ed) Sigmon a sister-in-law, Frances Miles, and long-time special friend, Dan Wentz, all of Nicholasville. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Waters. Rosemary was a Jessamine County High School and Georgetown College graduate, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education. She was retired from the University of Kentucky, having begun employment with UK’s purchasing department as a summer student. She worked in several UK colleges, serving as business manager. She retired as a business manager for the College of Education, having given nearly five decades of service to the university. She loved all aspects of the Big Blue Nation, enjoying football and basketball, only recently relinquishing her cherished season tickets. Rosemary loved entertaining and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed catering for family and friends’ special occasions. One of her favorite vocations was teaching cooking and flower arranging through Community Education Programs in conjunction with the Fayette County Public School System and KY’s Cooperative Extension Program. One of her favorite classes to teach was Bachelor Cooking to Avoid Starvation! In addition to cooking, catering, floral arranging, and teaching, Rosemary participated with family and friends in Santa’s Forest, a noted Christmas tree sales operation in Zandale for many years, which later moved to South Park. Santa’s Forest included providing wholesale trees to youth groups for fundraising. She was the business manager and premiere wreath and bow maker for this operation for over 20 years. Services to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Betts and West Funeral Home with Rev. Dann Masden officiating. Family members who will serve as bearers are, Mark Cassity, Dean Anness, Will Anness, Sam Cassity, Brian Crawford, and Justin Gray. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations are suggested to your favorite charity or the Parkinson’s International Foundation at Parkinsonsintl.org.
