Local gospel band Proverbs 31 performed in Wilmore on Friday, June 16, as part of a series of summer concerts known as Gospel on the Green.

The band consists of three members: Jody Brock, Pat Geary, and Cindy Rhorer.

The trio first crossed each other’s path a little over two decades ago.

“I was in my beauty shop singing. We had a piano in there left over from the Christmas Walk the day before. Pat walked in and said, ‘I don’t know who you are, but the Lord led me in here to you. He said we are going to be singing together someday,” Brock recalled.

She described meeting Geary again ten years later when she was looking for a singer to join her band.

“I was in a group that needed a singer, then Pat came in… We started singing together, and she said, ‘I knew it, I knew it, God sent me in here,’” Brock said.

Shortly after, Rhorer joined to complete the trio.

Since then, Proverbs 31 have been performing happily together for roughly 12 years.

“It has been just amazing ever since. We just work with each other so well. I thank God for that,” stated Brock.

Over the years they have performed together, the trio have formed a bond that surpasses friendship, as they now consider themselves family, “These three girls, we are sisters, totally sisters. We love each other, and when we mess up, we laugh with each other, not at each other. It is just a great time,” Brock said.
