James Alvin “Al” Bryson, loving father and grandfather, passed away May 25th at 85 years old.
Born in Manila, Arkansas on June 4, 1937, to Johnny and Donna Bryson, he spent most of his life in Flint, Michigan. Upon the death of his wife of 40 years, Sandra, Al moved to Nicholasville to be near his son, Scott, and his family, where he has been a member of the community for nearly 25 years. A retiree of Michigan Bell, he was passionate about his family, woodworking, gardening, morning coffee with friends, and the many family dogs. Al was a part of the Southern Hills United Methodist Church community. He will be missed for his kind heart, quiet humor, and willingness to lend a helping hand by all who knew and loved him.
Al is survived by: son, J. Scott (Tonya) Bryson; grandson, Andrew (Mary) Bryson; granddaughter Caitlin (Austin) Schile; two treasured nieces and their families, Lisa Brasseur-Garety and Sandra Lynn (Jim) Griffin; and many other cherished family members. In addition to his wife, and parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Charlie Garrison; and brother, Bob Bryson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southern Hills United Methodist Church of Lexington, KY, or God’s Pantry Food Bank. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Road. Visitation will be prior from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Burial be at a later date in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint, MI.
