Paul Evely 1923-2022 lived life to the fullest. He was born in Detroit in 1923, was married to Ottolyn for 57 years, and was father to Bob, Dale, and Marsha (Wells). He was proud of his nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. As long as he was able, he loved to get down on the floor and play with them, reading, tossing balls, and generally having a grand time. Paul worked for Chrysler Corporation for over 30 years, was a proud Army Veteran, seeing active service in WWII. He loved sports, especially the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions. Paul’s secret to living over 99 years was to maintain relationships with people of all generations. After retiring he was able to invest his time in his only hobby-people. Paul had hundreds of friends and while he lost many along the way, he easily made new friends without neglecting the old. For many years, to every young person in Wilmore, he seemed to be “Grandpa.” Since moving to Wilmore in 1996, Paul filled the pop machines at Fitch’s IGA. He was often seen walking around Wilmore, greeting everyone along the way, constantly making new friends. He loved his home and his neighbors. Paul cherished old hymns and could sing many of them by heart. He attended Wilmore Free Methodist Church, but he attended many other churches, enjoying the singing and fellowship. He would often repeat his father’s words, “There’s a little good in every church.” Memorial Service: Sunday, September 11th at 1:30 p.m. Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Road, Nicholasville KY 40356 Fellowship time immediately following. Burial with military honors: Monday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m., Camp Nelson Natl. Cemetery, 6980 Danville Road, Nicholasville KY 40356. No flowers please.
