The Jessamine County Schools Board of Education approved The Providence School calendar for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years recently.
The board met Jan. 24 at West Jessamine High School. The calendar approvals were part of the meeting’s consent agenda, which allows the board to approve several items — in this meeting’s case 25 items — with one vote.
The board approved the 2022-23 district calendar in 2021. Providence School, the district’s alternative school, operates on a “slightly different from the rest of the district and it’s approved separately,” said Patrice Jones, public information officer.
For the 2022-23 school year, students head to the classrooms on Aug. 10. The last day for students will be May 19, 2023.
Long breaks include Fall Break, Oct. 3-7; Thanksgiving break, Nov. 23-25; Christmas break, Dec. 19-30; and Spring Break, April 3-7, 2023.
The preschool phase-in days will be Aug. 24-25, while kindergartners will phase in Aug. 10-12.
The last day of school for preschool students will be May 12.
The school board is next scheduled to hold a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28.
