KCAL Old Time Radio Show to air on Jess-FM

KCAL Old Time Radio Show will be performing live on the radio for the first time ever this upcoming weekend.
For the past two years, the radio troupe has re-enacted shows from 1940 in front of live audiences.
Now, audience members will be able to hear the old time radio show from home. But don’t get too comfortable, because episodes that are performed on the radio will not be performed live. So in order to experience all episodes, listeners must tune in to 105.9 Jess-FM and attend the live performances.
“The ones that are done on Jess-FM are done exclusively for Jess-FM,” said Doug Fain, one of the producers of KCAL.
KCAL’s radio debut will begin at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30. They will air a 30 minute episode from the “Quiet, Please” program, to put listeners in the Halloween spirit. After that, the troupe will air at 8 p.m. on the last Sunday of every month.
Thanks to a donation from a local business, Boston Road Animal Clinic, listeners who miss the live radio shows can listen the next day in the form of an online podcast at kcal.podbean.com.
Live shows will still have a charge for tickets to benefit the Creative Art League of Jessamine County, but the live radio shows and the podcasts are free.
The next radio broadcast for KCAL will be a 30 minute comedy for Thanksgiving.
The next live performance will be a Christmas Comedy Celebration beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 9, 10 and at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. The Christmas show airing on Jess-FM will fall on Christmas night.
“Were excited that we were able to work it out for both,” Fain said.
