Bethany Davis is a graduate from East Jessamine High School and graduated in 2015 from University of the Cumberland’s with a degree in accounting and in 2016 with an MBA from the same university. She worked as a graduate assistant at the University of the Cumberland’s under current Asbury softball coach, Angie Dean. After graduation, she began working for Creative Lodging Solutions which was founded by Jessamine County resident Mike Tetterton — where she is currently employed as an accountant.
Her political experience includes serving on the student council in high school and college where she held the treasury position. Davis also served in the student athlete advisory committee for the Carson-Newman University. Her civic involvement includes serving on the children’s ministry at Ignite Church, coaching Jessamine County fast-pitch and hosting softball tournaments in order to raise funds for school supplies. She is also an avid veterans’ supporter within Jessamine County.

What is your
favorite part about
being a Jessamine
County resident?
My favorite part about being a Jessamine County resident is that it’s my home. I have lived in the same house since I was in the womb. I have literally been here my whole life, which has allowed me to see the town grow and go through many changes.

When those you meet in life
ask you about where you live, how do you describe it?
People ask me all the time, ‘Where’s Nicholasville?’ I say it’s the city right below Lexington. I describe it as unique because it takes 10 to 15 minutes for me to get to the Fayette mall, yet I still get the small town and close-knit community without being stranded in the middle of nowhere.

What have you found unique about living and working in Jessamine County?
You can easily get to the big city without sacrificing the small-town life. I feel like everyone knows everybody, and if they don’t, they know someone else.

What are some of the
developments in the county
that you have seen over time which stand out to you?
Jessamine County has really grown (and) the developments in Brannon Crossing are huge. But also, places like Jessamine County Career and Technology Center and the diesel mechanic school at the bus garage have allowed us to catch up to bigger cities and counties. It allows us to offer students an opportunity to get ahead and dabble around in subjects before they have to make that decision in college or trade school.

What are you most excited about for the future of
Jessamine County?
I am extremely excited for our new infrastructures to come. For example, the new firehouse and police station — and the development of Brannon Crossing. That area gives our town a chance to really gain business as well as develop and grow.

How has living in Jessamine County shaped you
as an individual?

It has made me an outgoing and approachable individual, but also has made me work hard for everything. From schooling to sports, I was raised and taught that if you work hard it pays off. In school, good grades led to awards and scholarships. In sports, it led to a regional title, many district titles and college scholarships. Being a part of a small town has given me many friends as well as many supporters, which was proven through the election in November.

What is your favorite
memory or past time
in Jessamine County?
Definitely the Jessamine Jamboree. I’ve held many memories from years of jamborees. Everything from winning a talent show in Edgewood, to riding on floats in the parade, to nacho mama nachos, playing pull tabs and cake walks at the Catholic church and carnivals. As a kid, what better way to grow up? The community really came together and celebrated and supported the community and the vendors. If I remember correctly, we even got out of school a time or two.

Where is your favorite place
to go in Jessamine County?
I have two favorite places to go in Jessamine County. No. 1 would be the softball field. Really any of them, simply because a lot of my most fond memories were engulfed by the softball field. Some of my greatest friends, accomplishments and memories happened in softball.
My second favorite place to go is Hickman Creek. It’s a place I can go and play with my puppy. We love to go and play fetch and swim. She’s like a fish, and the joy we get from a warm day in the creek is so fun and awesome. I take my niece and nephew with me, too. We really just get to enjoy nature and great weather along with each other’s company.

What is your favorite holiday
or community event which takes place in Jessamine
County and why?
Now that the jamboree is no more, my favorite community event would probably be The Taste of Jessamine. You literally get to see thousands of Jessamine County citizens while letting them try your favorite recipes. It’s a great way to meet new people and try new recipes.
