Nicholasville man arrested for promoting contraband
Joel D. Lawson, 31, of 316 Wichita Drive Apt. 46 in Nicholasville, was arrested Feb. 3 for first-degree promoting contraband, a parole violation and theft by unlawful taking $500 or more but under $10,000, according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Lawson was arrested on an active warrant. Upon arrival at the Jessamine County Detention Center, Lawson was asked to disclose if he had any contraband on him. While being searched by detention center staff, four yellow round pills with a number stamp of 216 were located on Lawson.
Lawson allegedly told officers that he knew he was going to arrested and hid the pills. Poison control was contacted in order to identify the pills, which were confirmed to be Seroquel 100 mg, according to the citation.
Nicholasville man arrested for evading police, resisting arrest
Cody R. White, 26, of 104 S. Central Ave. in Nicholasville, was arrested Feb. 9 for fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and third-degree terroristic threatening, according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers attempted to serve White arrest warrants at the listed address. White fled on foot out of the back door of the residence and continued fleeing towards Green Street, failing to stop at officers’ commands.
White was taken to the ground and attempted to be handcuffed, although he continued to resist, according to the citation. Once handcuffed, officers transported White to the police cruiser where he refused to get inside.
Once officers were able to get White inside the vehicle, he was transported to St. Joseph Jessamine for medical clearance.
Inside the hospital, White allegedly told officers he would “break their nose and cut their head off,” and proceeded to point at an axe tattoo on his chest.
White was later transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Nicholasville man arrested for DUI
James H. Stinnett, 30, of 2461 John Watts Road in Nicholasville, was arrested Feb. 3 for DUI and reckless driving, according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to US27 for reports of a possibly intoxicated driver. A witness said the vehicle almost ran off the road and crossed over the white lane with both passenger side tires. The vehicle was observed in the driveway of the Catnip BP Station, and Stinnett appeared to be asleep behind the wheel with his vehicle in reverse.
When officers attempted to wake Stinnett up, he allegedly told them he had not consumed alcohol or taken any intoxicating substances.
Inside the vehicle, in plain view, officers observed an open bottle of whiskey, according to the citation.
A field sobriety test was performed, which Stinnett failed. Stinnett was also described as falling asleep while standing during the test. He was arrested and transferred to St. Joseph Jessamine for a blood test, before being transferred to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Hyden man arrested for burglary, assault
Timothy Morris, 27, of 183 Short Creek Road in Hyden, was arrested Feb. 3 for second-degree burglary and fourth-degree minor assault, according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Morris was a patient at St. Joseph Jessamine and was waiting to undergo psychiatric evaluation. Before being transported, he allegedly ran away from the hospital. He was attempted to be stopped on Bennett Drive before he allegedly assaulted a victim by lunging forward and grabbing their hands and attempted to pull them towards him, according to the citation.
The victim was described as having several cuts on their hands.
When officers arrived on scene, Morris had left on foot but was found on Fredrick where he had unlawfully broken into a home and was found in the shower.
Morris was arrested and taken to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Nicholasville man arrested for heroin
Sam Maggard, 44, of 256 Jason Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested Feb. 6 for possession of a controlled substance (heroin), according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
While NPD was investigating a shots fired call, Maggard was observed by officers traveling at a high rate of speed. He was flagged down and stopped. Officers confirmed Maggard was wanted for a parole violation. While he was being detained, and his vehicle was being shut off and secured, a small bag of heroin was located on the floorboard of the driver’s seat.
Maggard was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
Wilmore man arrested for public intoxication
Donnie R. Sallee, 70, of 2250 Jessamine Station Road in Wilmore, was arrested Feb. 3 for public intoxication (excluding alcohol), according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Sallee allegedly called from 105 N. Central Ave. saying he was robbed and assaulted. Officers arrived on scene, and after an investigation, were able to determine no robbery or assault took place.
Sallee was described as not being able to make complete sentences, sweating profusely and having fidgety body movements.
Sallee was determined to be manifestly under the influence and a danger to himself and others. He was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

— Melinda L. Figg, 27, of 1015 Shanty Hill in Wilmore, was arrested Jan. 31 for non-payment of court fees.
— Gary R. Hall, 50, of 103 Jefferson Street in Nicholasville, was arrested Jan. 31 for failure to appear.
— Candice Sparkman, 35, of 4535 Highway 899 in Lerose, was arrested Jan. 31 for non-payment of court fees.
— Lisa R. Rooney, 52, of 116 Rarrick Ave. in Nicholasville, was arrested Feb. 1 for non-payment of court fees.
— Charise A. Logan, 59, of 4008 Homestead Drive in Louisville, was arrested Feb. 2 for DUI and driving too slow for traffic conditions.
