The Jessamine County Fair comes to town next week where residents will have the opportunity to experience both old and new events this summer.

With events starting Sunday, July 8 and running through July 14, ticket prices are $10 per person Monday through Friday and $12 per person Saturday. Animal rides at the petting zoo are offered at an additional price, and some attraction events on the midway are not included in the general gate admission.

“Wilmore and I congratulate the Jessamine County Fair Board and Jessamine County government on the excellence of the fair each year,” Wilmore Mayor Harold Rainwater said. “We are Jessamine County Proud!”

James Gang Amusements, LLC will be providing the rides for the fair this year. Founded in 1992, James Gang is a family run carnival from Andalusia, Alabama.

The fair board announced new and substantially changed events this year include James Gang Amusements, laser tag, dunking booth, petting zoo, Moron brothers, Tractor Driving Contest and the ATV rodeo.

The fair will feature motorsports such as a Demolition Derby, scheduled for 8 p.m. July 11; Outlaw Truck Pull, scheduled for 7 p.m. July 13; Mud run, scheduled for 7 p.m. July 13; ATV Rodeo, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 12 and Garden Tractor Pull scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, July 9.

The fair will also feature  

annual pageants such as Miss Jessamine County, Miss Teen Jessamine County, Miss Pre-Teen Jessamine County, Little Miss, Little Miss and Mister, Tiny Tots and the Baby Show with dates and times listed on the Jessamine County Fair website.

The Jessamine County Extension Office will feature agriculture, hearth and home events such as Hearth and Home, Floriculture and 4-H, beef show, goat show, open-breed sheep show, youth market lamb show, pony and mule pull, dairy show, horse show and a petting zoo.

Contests include a greased pig contest, backseat driving contest, kiddie tractor pull, laser tag, tractor driving contest and a dunking booth.

The most current list of dunking booth participants are Judge-Executive David West, Jessamine County Jailer Jon Sallee, Bill Bales, John Trainer, Rep. Russ Meyers, Mike Cassity, Gary Morgan, Patty Roher, Erick Wright, Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Corman, Jeff Moss as well as some members from the Nicholasville Police Department.

Picnic with the Judge will be held 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, July 13 under the pavilion. Music City Brass will play and the Cattlemen Association will be cooking lunch.
