Wilmore’s summer concert series opens this weekend with concerts on the Downtown Green. There are two series: Monthly Friday shows are part of the “Gospel on the Green” series, and monthly Saturday shows are part of the Stonebridge Concert series.

Opening the Friday night, June 13, the Gospel on the Green performance will be “Gone Fiddlin”, a perennial favorite. The award winning sisters Allie and Kelly have been playing bluegrass, gospel and classical music since they were of kindergarten age.

On Saturday night, June 14 , Stonebridge Concert will celebrate Flag Day with a concert by “Ladies for Liberty”, presenting a program of music from WWII through the Vietnam War era in the style of the famous Andrew Sisters. Their program features vocals, costumes, hairstyles

and the spirit of patriotism reminiscent of the 1940’s and 1950’s.

All concerts begin at 6 p.m. and are held at the Wilmore Downtown Green. Rain location is the Assembly Hall of the Municipal Center, 210 S. Lexington Avenue. Free admission but non-perishable food donations and pet food is requested to be donated to the Wilmore-High Bridge Community Center and the Jessamin County Animal Shelter.

Tables and chairs are provided or attendees can bring their own. A food truck will be on sight.

These concerts are sponsored by the City of Wilmore, the Jessamine County Fiscal Court, and the Stock Yards Bank, Inc.
