March is ‘Arts in Our Schools Month’ at Jessamine County Public Schools, and it’s wrapping up with multiple performances of two different musicals. 

With each musical having four showings, there’s no need to pick one or the other. 

East Jessamine Middle School is located at 901 Union Mill Rd, Nicholasville. Students will be performing Beetlejuice Jr. four times. The first performance is tonight at 7 p.m., Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m., and Saturday March 29 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.. 

According to Mtishows.com, Beetlejuice Jr. is a 60-minute version of the Broadway musical. The musical is based off of the motion picture and is a “frightfully funny” tango with emotional honesty and a demon who comes to visit the real world. 

West Jessamine Middle School is located at 1400 Wilmore Road and will also be showing the Beauty and the Beast Jr. musical four times. The first performance is tonight at 7 p.m, with another on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Beauty and the Beast Jr. is based on the original Broadway production. It’s an adaptation of the story and features some of the iconic songs from the original movie, as well as some new songs. 

The musical has many fun roles allowing students to play different objects inside the castle, like teacups and clocks and myriad other sentient castle necessities. 

Unfortunately, licensing for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and the JR. version will have temporary restrictions in North America. According to Mtishows.com, all performances of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. must be performed by March 31, 2025 and any requests for performances taking place after March 31, 2025 will be denied.
