Garett Allen Hager, 48, husband of Renee Razor Hager, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. He was born in Lexington, KY on January 24, 1976, to Brenda Kay Hall Hager and the late Garnett Anderson “Andy” Hager. Garett was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend! His personality was adored by many and he rarely met a stranger. He was as genuine as you can get and was the same person no matter the company he kept. Many describe him as a “best friend”. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, epic organizational skills, and hard work ethic. Garett was a skilled railroader, working alongside his brother and late father with Jessamine Const. Co. until most recent years where he worked as a machine operator on Maintenance of Way railgang #26 with Norfolk Southern Railway. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing during his time at home. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Renee; sons, Braydon Lawrence Hager and Rhett Anderson Hager; grandmother, Maxine Hall Froehling; mother, Brenda Hager; brother, Jeremy L. Hager (Cheryl); sister, Shanon M. Jorgensen (Chad); as well as numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Andy Hager. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Bales and Bro.Steve McGuire officiating. The burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service, as well as the evening prior, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home.
The pallbearers will be Brian Perkins, PJ Veal, Mark Combs, Brandon Colliver, Woody Stappe, Cain Jones, Benjamin “Doc” Acuff, and Brian Bailey. The honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Lawrence, Bobby Allen, Daran Razor, Seth Razor, Geoffery Catchings, Jackon, Dawson, & Knox Jorgensen, and Tate & Tackett Hager.
