Elvin Dyer Jr., 60, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He was born in Fayette County on April 26, 1964, to Elvin Dyer Sr. and Opal Gill Dyer. He was a mason by trade, having worked independently for many years. He is survived by his son, Junior Dyer; daughters, Crystal Dawn Crabtree, Rhonda Faith Dyer Johnson (Justin), and Heather McQueen; brothers, Steve Dyer and Leonard Dyer (Lee); sisters, Wanda Abney (Frank), Judy Shafer (James), and Cindy Puckett; grandchildren, Evan Wayne Johnson, Junior “Lil Man” Dyer, McKenzie Dyer, Cheyenne “Cherokee” Dyer, Brandon Dyer, Opal Dyer, Sara Tudor, and Brianna Hall (Billy); as well as five great-grandchildren. He is preceded by two children, Brandon Smith and Ashley Smith. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 9, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where bearers will be Michael Benson, Justin Johnson, Michael Drury, Dalton Baker, Sug Dyer, Doozer Dyer, and Junior Dyer. Honorary bearers will be Ronnie Hager, Adam Hager, Chunk Dyer, Red Dyer, Michael Baker, William Tolliver, and Freddie Shell. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 5:00 – 9:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve the Dyer family in their time of need.
