Join us at JCPL on Saturday, October 8 for Comic Surge! Now in its sixth year, Comic Surge is a family-friendly comic convention, complete with a professionally judged costume contest, vendor booths, dancing robots, and so much more! Come dressed in your best cosplay and enjoy a day of fandom fun at your public library.

What’s happening at this year’s Comic Surge?

All day long, meet superheroes, princesses, and more characters from unique universes, including Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Thor, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Cruella DeVille. Snap photos with your favorites, explore replica props and vehicles, and visit vendors to purchase art, comic books, and novelties.

Get your game on with friends and fellow players in the video game truck or at tabletop gaming stations.

Use the Force: Lion’s Pride Martial Arts will guide you through Jedi light saber training (11 a.m.).

Try your hand at drawing comics with workshops led by Wes Gift and Justin Stewart (10–11 a.m.), and Bryce Oquaye and Justin Stewart (3:30–4 p.m.).

Enjoy lunch or a snack from food trucks on-site: Mi Phoenix Mexican Food, Bake Mia Cake, Snowie Ice, and Little Donut Trailer!

Special guests also include the 501 st Legion, Cosplay for a Cause, and Mindy’s Jessamine School of Classical Dance.
