Nicholasville will soon have a new fast food Tex-Mex spot coming as groundbreaking for the Taco John’s in Brannon Crossing was held on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
“It went well. We had the mayor for Nicholasville, several people from the chamber of commerce, fire department, representatives from Taco John, and representatives from Brett Construction as well,” said Brett Construction Contract Manager Tony Kahn.
The restaurant’s address will be 525 E. Brannon Rd; construction began on Monday, Aug. 19, and the project is scheduled to be finished by the end of Feb. 2023.
Khan said there would likely be a ribbon-cutting ceremony when construction is finished.
Taco John’s was first opened by John Turner in 1969. It started as one taco stand in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Since then, the restaurant has expanded to 400 locations in 22 states.
If you can’t wait to try the new eatery in the Nicholasville fast food scene, you can check out one of the other locations in Kentucky.
Kentucky has 10 Taco John’s locations throughout the state in Benton, Henderson, Madisonville, Mayfield, Murray, Paducah, Princeton, and Somerset.
Taco John’s has a typical Americanized Mexican cuisine menu with a unique twist.
The breakfast menu is fully fledged Tex-Mex breakfast basics, like cold brew, Mexican donut bites, and tater tots branded as “Potato Olés,” which are offered as a standalone item or within an eggy-potato-meat breakfast scramble.
The restaurant also highlights its nachos, quesadillas, and tacos. The potato and fried chicken tacos, potato burritos, and churros stand out from items you would see at other taco places.
Keep an eye out for the possible ribbon cutting in February.
