Wilmore Summer Weekend Concert Series concluding Friday, Saturday

The Wilmore Summer Weekend Concert Series concludes this weekend at the Wilmore Downtown Green. 

On Friday night, Gospel on the Green welcomes a return appearance of Marlana VanHoose. Marlana’s extrodinary story (blind since birth) and her musical talent have propelled her to appearances for University of Kentucky basketball games, NBA playoffs, NASCAR events, a presidential innaugeration and more. Music starts at 7 p.m. under the Green’s pavilion. There will be a food vendor on site, and chairs are provided.

On Saturday, Stonebridge Concert season will close with its annual “Picnic Under the Stars.” Quincy Catering of Lexington will open its serving line at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., The MetroGnomes, a 19-piece big band will take the stage to perform jazz, latin, rock and swing. Although a limited number of tables but many chairs are provided, attendees may choose to bring their own. In the event of rain, the band moves under the Green’s pavilion.

These concerts are free thanks to the Wilmore City Council and the Jessamine County Fiscal Court. Attendees are encouraged to bring food donations for the Wilmore-High Bridge Community Service Center or the Jessamine County Animal Shelter.
