Time has run out for vehicle owners to pay their registration and taxes without incurring a penalty.
Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. was the deadline. As of Wednesday, any unpaid registration due at the end of September or earlier will be considered past due, and a penalty will be added for the entire overdue period.
That means registrations due at the end of March will have seven months of penalties tacked onto the original bill.
Earlier this year, the Transportation Cabinet granted a grace period for all vehicle and vessel registrations and disabled driver parking placards administered by the county clerk offices and the cabinet. The window was created to ease the burden on those adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic so they could have until the close of business on Oct. 6 to pay without penalty.
Registrations can be renewed in the Jessamine County Clerkâs Office.
