The Jessamine County Fire District is accepting donations for this year’s food drive for Thanksgiving.
Each year, volunteers come together and contribute their time and resources to help make this happen. The drive was able to fill more than 250 large boxes (including turkeys) for those who could use an extra blessing at the holiday season.
“The County Fire District has always taken an active role in the community, simply because they want to do all they can to help the families of Jessamine County,” according to a press release issued last week.
Fire District Chaplain Billy Holland will help organize the event again this year and wants to relay a huge thank you to all the volunteers who give their time and resources to this event and everyone that has donated in the past.
“We are seeking donations from anyone who would want to contribute as there is a great need this year,” he said.”
This year, applications will be taken for the boxes on Monday, Oct. 19, and Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The boxes will be distributed on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Both the applications and distribution will take place at the County Fire Department on the corner of John Watts Drive (copper roof).
If anyone is interested in making a contribution to the food drive or to volunteer with the process, you can contact Holland at psalmz103@gmail.com.
