A Jessamine County Sheriff’s deputy gave a reminder for parents to be vigilant about possible child abductions.
Deputy Joshua Fite told WKYT that his 4-year-old daughter and mother-in-law were walking out of Fayette Mall Sept. 18 when two people in an SUV tried to get them to approach the vehicle after waving “handfuls of cash.”
Fite said his mother-in-law returned to the mall and asked for someone to escort her to her vehicle.
Lexington told WKYT they spoke with Fite’s family and looked at the incident, but no crime was committed.
“This can happen in Kentucky,” Fite said.
