7 new COVID cases added in Jessamine

Jessamine County added seven new cases of the coronavirus in the past week, according to information from the Health Department.

The new cases bring Jessamine County’s total to 47, though only seven cases are listed as active, according to information posted Tuesday afternoon on the Jessamine County Health Department’s website.

Four of those cases were reported May 8, the most in one day in more than a month. Two more were added May 9.

The department continues to offer free testing for those who qualify by having one of the symptoms: a fever of more than 100 degrees, a dry cough, shortness of breath or diarrhea, he said.

To schedule testing, people must complete an online screening tool on the Health Department’s website or by phone. The department will the schedule an appointment for the test itself.

So far, the department has tested 702 people. Only 2 percent, or 13 people, have tested positive. So far, 623 people tested negative, and results are pending for another 66 people.
