Shots fired on New Year’s

A Garrard man was arrested early Jan. 1 after allegedly firing a handgun while in a crowd of people.

William A. Kairn, 32, was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Nicholasville Police, officers were called to the Tap House Bar and Lounge on North Main Street at 1:54 a.m.. Witnesses and surveillance video showed Kairn with the handgun and firing two shots into the air. Officers found shell casings that matched bullets found in Kairn’s vehicle. Officers also found a glass pipe with suspected marijuana inside and a “squared cake” near the pipe.
