On Aug. 6, Jay Bruner, the president of the Jessamine County Fair board, presented Major Randy Davis of the Salvation Army, located at 205 S. First St. in Nicholasville, with a $1,000 check in earnings from the dunking booth at the Jessamine County Fair to go toward the food pantry and backpack program at the Salvation Army. Davis said donors had already donated some backpacks and supplies. The money will go toward food for children, the food pantry which operates all year round and supplies for the backpacks for the back-to-school backpack program, a program that has been going on for about four to five years. Charlotte Todd, a member of the fair board, said at the dunking booth, some city and county officials were dunked, and some children dunked their parents. “It gives people a chance to celebrate and laugh,” Davis said.
