Wilmore Night Markets will launch for their second Summer series this month.
This year on May 16, June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15, all local boutiques and shops will remain open until 8 p.m. complete with a vendor fair of local artisans, craftspeople and entrepreneurs held in the City Parking Lot in Wilmore. The Night Markets were established last year when several downtown merchants came together looking for a way to bring shoppers to Wilmore on a week night. Founding members are Autumn and Company, Barnard Law Office, The Family Center, Gigi’s on Main, and Rachel’s Rose Garden.
This year, they are joined with extended hours from Community Service Center of Wimore-Highbridge, Olive Branch Boutique and Shades of the Bluegrass. Wilmore has three local restaurants including Subway, China King, and Solomon’s Porch as well as a new coffee shop, Drinklings. Night Market will also feature Los Hermanos Locos from Lexington and a variety of sweet treats and snacks in its Food Court. Last year’s crowds were between 300 and 600, and Wilmore is ready to welcome folks into their small town charm again.
New this year to Nigh Market is JAX, Jessamine County Ax Throwing, and Rock N Things LLC. JAX brings the carnival life to adults over 18 with some friendly competition. Geodes might be the biggest and brightest at Rock N Things display but the company will also feature its geckos! Returning to Wilmore Night Market are several familiar favorites like local artists Charlotte Blair and local wood worker Tracy Watkins of Stardust Gallery. Vendor spaces are still available.
Continuing from last year is the Night Market Authors tent where local writers will have a book or two on hand to sell and sign. We are blessed to have so many creative types in Jessamine County. The Authors Tent is a way to meet and greet the public and raise awareness of the literary scene in Jessamine County. The Night Market is still welcoming authors into this opportunity.
All who are interested in vendor space, or the authors tent, can contact event organizer Tara Hall of The Family Center at 270-403-6488 or familycenterky@gmail.com.
