West Jessamine senior Dalton Bruner started strong. He finished that way too, taking home a win and some hardware.
The Colts took on the Mercer County Titans with the 46th District Championship on the line Thursday at Burgin High School. West took off to a 24-10 lead after the first quarter ended, and while the Titans came within two points of tying the score late in the game, the Colts were far too strong.
Bruner seemed to be a one-man show in the first quarter, though it wasn’t long before the entire team got in on the act. By the time the final buzzer sounded the Colts had secured an 86-67 victory and the 46th District Championship.
Bruner was named Tournament MVP, and teammates DeAjuann Stepp and Braeden Fomas were named to the KHSAA All-Tournament Team.
