The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects following a burglary that ended in a physical confrontation with the homeowner on May 11.
Thirty-year-old Daniel Baker and 45-year-old Lanny Green, both of Nicholasville, were taken into custody and charged with first-degree burglary for the incident that occurred at a residence on Knight Drive.
According to a statement from the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner returned to the residence to find the suspects inside. The first suspect, who was in the kitchen, shoved the homeowner before running out the back door. Then, an altercation involving a shotgun belonging to the owner of the home occurred between he and the second suspect in a bedroom. After a struggle, the owner took the gun away from the suspect, who ran from the house. Both suspects fled the scene on foot.
Chief Deputy Allen Peel told the Jessamine Journal that the burglars escaped with a .45 caliber handgun, and the homeowner reported pieces of jewelry missing as well.
The homeowner reportedly sustained a minor injury to his left arm.
The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation, which led to the two suspects being arrested the evening of the incident. They are currently in the Jessamine County Detention Center.
