Happy New Year’s resolutions!

The single most important thing you can do for your health, and the health of others around you, is to quit using tobacco. Studies show that individuals who enlist the support and assistance from Quit Lines or Online Quit Resources, are more likely to succeed than those who try to quit on their own.

Kentucky is one of many states that offer free bi-lingual tobacco cessation for individuals who want to stop smoking, open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Monday through Sunday. When individuals call Quit Now Kentucky, they will receive support through advice, a personalized quit program, and the latest information about medications available to assist with quitting. To contact Quit Now Kentucky, please call 1-800-QUIT NOW (1-800-784-8669) or visit www.QuitNowKentucky.org.

In addition to the Quit Line, the Jessamine County Health Department (JCHD) offers tobacco cessation classes intermittently throughout the year. For further details regarding these classes, please follow Jessamine County Health Department on Facebook or check in on our website, www.jessaminehealth.org, for periodic updates on tobacco cessation classes and all our community health offerings. 2017 could be the year that you call it “QUITS” for your health!
